The Earthglider is a relatively nimble everyday bike.
First off:
Almost all of the plastic molds for the Earthglider now need to be replaced (the existing molds were prototypes and are no longer suitable), and further investments are required that we are currently unable to cover. Therefore, we are unfortunately unable to offer the Earthglider at this time.
We definitely intend to continue the project and will announce it here once we’ve overcome this hurdle.
For everyday use, the Earthglider offers:
A very comfortable seating position with a spacious seat and backrest, good ventilation (dedicated air channels), a headrest, and good armrests on the long handlebar ends for many hours of comfortable riding.
Approx. 65 liters of water-resistant storage space for everyday use and short tours, or longer tours with “hotel luggage.”
Optimal rain protection thanks to a closed front wheel fairing with a large splash guard and front fairing. With a rain cape (included in the package), you’ll stay practically completely dry even in pouring rain.
The high-mount handlebars, combined with well-tuned steering geometry, provide the rider with excellent responsiveness, precise steering, and a relaxed riding experience.
The full suspension reduces strain on the rider and supports fatigue-free riding over long distances.
The meticulously engineered lightweight steel frame, made from high-strength tubing, offers high safety and robustnes against fatigue.
And these features are what make the Earthglider so fast and smooth-riding:
Low seating position (approx. 35 cm seat height) combined with a flat backrest. These measurements are moderate compared to other low-rider recumbent bikes and represent a compromise between a sense of safety and speed. However, the moderate backrest angle, combined with the partial fairings, does not pose an aerodynamic disadvantage.
The front fairing, front wheel fairing and rear fairing provide the rider with the maximum aerodynamic benefits possible for a partially fairing-equipped bicycle.
At approximately 25 kg, this is a respectable weight for such a fully equipped and robust bike, one that does not hinder rapid progress. Generally, only bikes that are not equally suitable for everyday use and aerodynamically optimized can achieve a lower weight.
The following innovations, among others, make the Earthglider unique and were essential in achieving its performance characteristics:
The rear fairing serves as aerodynamic fairing, luggage compartment, backrest, headrest, and crumple zone all in one. It is connected to the rest of the bicycle via connecting plates. No frame structures are required for the backrest.
Length adjustment is not achieved via a sliding bottom bracket, but rather via an adjustable center section that shifts the seat, rear fairing/backrest, and rear swingarm as a single unit relative to the frame, which houses the bottom bracket, steering, and front wheel.
This innovation ensures the best possible axle load distribution (reducing load on the front wheel) regardless of the rider’s height, with benefits for braking distance, steering characteristics, rolling resistance, and the bicycle’s overall dimensions.
Unique gusset plates completely remove weld seams from the high-stress zones of the tubes and provide superior strength and stiffness at the pivot points.
The single-arm front fork, featuring a new steerer tube suspension system developed by Aurilion, ensures collision-free chain movement.
The “high-nosed” front fairing (not visible in the photos) provides, for the first time, genuine wind protection for the entire body (except the head). Previous front fairings with a strongly curved upper surface create suction on the top, which in turn causes airflow from the bottom up over the rider’s entire body.
